Figure/Torso Sculpture

Sculpting Course:

Figure in Clay from Photographic References

Learn to sculpt the human form in this comprehensive 3-day crash course. While sculpting from a life model - as offered in our 5-day sculpting workshops — is a deeply rewarding experience, working from photographic references can be just as engaging and is the focus of this course.

In contemporary figurative practice, many artists choose to work from photo references, as they offer flexibility and creative freedom. However, the real challenge lies in translating two-dimensional images into convincing three-dimensional form.

Throughout the course, you will develop a solid understanding of proportions, gesture, and human anatomy, enabling you to create strikingly realistic sculptures without relying on a life model. Thanks to a small group size and a personalised teaching approach, the course is suitable for participants of all skill levels.

The finished sculpture can be preserved through molding and casting by joining our additional Molding and Casting Course, which can be scheduled individually according to your availability. Alternatively, you may purchase the armature used in the course at a reduced price to continue sculpting at home or to have the work cast outside our studio.
