Sculpting the Hand in Clay

Sculpting the Hand in Clay

Whether depicted as a tool, a symbol, or a weapon, hands have consistently stood as a crucial channel for artistic expression, surpassing mere anatomical representation to articulate a diverse array of emotions and narratives.

Nevertheless, aspiring artists often find themselves intimidated by the complexity of figurative elements, particularly hands. Our 3-day workshop is designed to help you overcome this barrier by guiding you through the process of modelling convincing and expressive hands in clay.

The workshop focuses on anatomy, proportions, and the gesture of a hand, along with advanced principles of shape design and modelling. Drawing from the knowledge presented during lectures and demonstrations, and using yourself as a reference, you will create a life-size hand in clay with a dynamic gesture of your choice.

Upon completing the workshop, the participants can transform their works in a more durable material by joining a supplementary Mold-Making & Casting Course.
