Sculpture with Photo Reference

Would you like to sculpt a portrait of a loved one, realize a personal project or create a unique gift while mastering the art of figurative sculpture? Then this course is exactly what you’re looking for!

Alexandra Slava, the principle instructor and founder of the Berlin Sculpture Atelier is there to help make your vision a reality. Share your ideas and Alexandra will guide you through the process of creating your very own unique sculpture based on photo references or sketches in the context of the one-on-one lessons. The course includes 10 private sessions offering you the optimal time span to learn the fundamentals of traditional sculpture and gain the skills required for rendering the subject of your choice.

You will begin by elaborating your idea and creating a small-scale maquette of the project to ascertain the design and composition. Proceeding from the maquette, Alexandra will either provide or help you build the appropriate internal armature for the envisioned sculpture. If applicable, proper photo references will be selected. Having completed the preparatory work, you will begin modeling your piece in clay under the instructor’s professional guidance. The course will include lectures, demonstrations and regular individual critiques to guide you through this process and deliver you an enriching learning experience.

Thanks to the individual teaching approach adopted by the instructor, this private courses is well suited for the participants with all professional backgrounds, skill levels and personal goals.

Once the sculpture is finalized, you may request the instructor to make a mold and cast your work in resin or bronze at the additional cost. Alternatively, you may choose to join the Mold-Making & Casting Course where you will learn the techniques of rubber molding and cast your project yourself under the instructor’s supervision.
